Colour Realism

Color realism is the supreme discipline of colour tattooing. The goal isn't simply a realistic tattoo, but the most faithful possible rendering of the reference in colour. Skin, light, shadow, reflections and the finest colour transitions all have to work together perfectly, so that the motif looks as though it were printed straight onto the skin. The real art lies in making colours look impressive not just when fresh, but in applying them so that they keep their brilliance, depth and naturalness even after healing.

In our tattoo studio in Hamburg, two artists specialise in this style. Aleksandr works passionately in color realism and uses colour to create impressive depth, atmosphere and vivid detail. His work has been published in Ink Legends Magazine, among others. A-Dem brings his years of experience from black & grey photorealism and combines the highest precision with exceptionally natural colouring. Together they stand for color realism at the highest level.

We tattoo in Hamburg-Borgfelde, a few minutes from the main station.

What you should know about colour realism

Long-lasting colours are no accident. For a color realism tattoo to still look brilliant years later, the colours have to be worked into the skin with the right technique and plenty of experience. High-quality pigments are the foundation, but the decisive difference is made by the artist's work.

Your skin tone naturally plays a role. Depending on your skin type and natural pigments, colours can look different after healing. Your skin is therefore always part of the finished artwork.

The right aftercare contributes significantly to longevity. UV radiation, intense sun and other environmental factors in particular can fade colours over time. With good aftercare and consistent sun protection, your color realism tattoo stays brilliant and rich in contrast for many years.
