Colour Realism

A colour realism tattoo is realism with one extra layer: colour. It creates depth, atmosphere and contrast that black and grey can't reach — but it forgives less. Colours have to work with each other, with your skin tone, and with what should still be there in ten years.

At our tattoo studio in Hamburg two artists work in this style. Aleksandr personally prefers colour tattoos because colour gives him more room for depth and mood; his work has been published in Ink Legends Magazine among others. A-Dem comes from black & grey photorealism and brings that precision into colour.

We tattoo in Hamburg-Borgfelde, a few minutes from the main station.

What you should know about colour realism

Colour needs substance. For a colour tattoo to still glow years later, it has to be laid in strong and stable. We work with premium inks — but how they're set is half the job.

Your skin tone is part of the equation. The same colour behaves differently on every skin. We'll tell you upfront which tones work on you and which don't — better honest than disappointed later.

Colour ages differently than black. Light tones fade faster than dark ones, and sun speeds that up. With sun protection and care a colour tattoo stays strong for years; without, it loses a little every year.
