Fineline lives off what's left out. Fine, even lines instead of bold outlines, plenty of open skin, restrained motifs — elegant and calm. What looks easy is technically demanding: a thin line forgives no wobble and still has to sit deep enough to stay.
At our tattoo studio in Hamburg two artists do this. Natalie is co-owner, runs the Your Beauty PMU area and works in fine line and feminine realism. Anna comes from floral motifs, micro-realism and concept work — for her, every tattoo carries a personal story.
We tattoo in Hamburg-Borgfelde, a few minutes from the main station.
Fine doesn't mean tiny. Very small fineline motifs with lots of detail blur together over the years. We'll tell you the size at which your motif stays readable for good.
Placement matters. On hands, fingers and feet fineline holds up worse — the skin renews faster there and takes more friction. That's not a no, but you should know touch-ups get more likely.
Less is more. The appeal is the calm. If a motif gets too busy, it loses exactly what made you want fineline.
