Fine Line · Feminine Realism

Natalie Demtschenko is co-founder of Tattoo Highlights and specialises in permanent make-up as well as fine-line tattoos. Together with her husband Alex Demtschenko (A-Dem) she built up Tattoo Highlights and today accompanies her clients on their path to more well-being, self-confidence and individuality.

As the studio's shop manager, Natalie is also the first point of contact for every enquiry. Anyone who reaches out to Tattoo Highlights speaks with her first – she makes sure that every client feels well looked after and personally advised from the very first message.

What sets her apart is her attitude towards her work. She is not one of those people to whom things simply come easily. Everything she can do today she has earned through hard work, discipline and continuous learning. It is exactly this standard that stays with her in every treatment to this day.

Long before she found her way into the world of permanent make-up, she was fascinated by the human body and the question of how many small details have to interact perfectly. This interest first led her into medicine, where she worked, among other things, as an anaesthesia nurse. There she learned not only precision and responsibility, but above all a sensitive way of dealing with people in delicate situations.

Her path to permanent make-up began through a personal experience. After having her own eyebrows pigmented, she quickly realised that it is about far more than a visual change. The boost in self-confidence and the relief in everyday life inspired her so much that the wish arose to give exactly this feeling to other women too.

Her focus today is on eyebrow pigmentation suited to each individual type, lip pigmentation and lash-line enhancement. In addition she offers fine-line tattoos – an area that perfectly reflects her love of precision, aesthetics and detailed work.

One-size-fits-all treatments don't exist in her studio. Every person is individual and deserves a solution that suits their personality. Clients value not only her professional expertise, but also her honest, warm and authentic manner. Many describe their appointments more like a visit to a good friend than a classic beauty appointment.

To her, beauty means far more than perfect eyebrows or lips. It starts with personality, individuality and the feeling of being at peace with yourself. Permanent make-up can help to strengthen this feeling – and that is exactly what inspires her about her work, day after day.

More than pigments

A story that has stayed with me to this day.

In the course of my work I have met many moving people. One story, however, touched me in a special way.

One day a client contacted me who had lost her eyebrows due to cancer. She asked me whether I could prepare a cost estimate for her so she could submit the treatment to her health insurance.

From experience I already knew that the chances of the costs being covered are very slim. In most cases, permanent make-up is classified by health insurers as an aesthetic treatment – regardless of the personal story behind it.

During our conversation, the client told me about her journey, the challenges of her illness and how much she suffered from no longer recognising herself in the mirror. Her story touched me deeply.

Even while we were still talking, it was clear to me that I would give her the treatment as a gift. Not because I wanted recognition or to turn it into advertising, but because in that moment I simply wanted to help her.

When the treatment was finished and I saw the joy in her eyes, I realised once again that my work goes far beyond pigments, shapes or techniques. Sometimes it is simply about giving someone back a piece of self-confidence and helping them feel comfortable in their own skin again.

That is exactly why I love what I do.
